Capablanca was stressing. He had accepted a challenge from the Devil, and if he lost the game, he lost his soul. Underestimating his opponent, Capablanca had done several elegant moves, resulting in the fact that the devil had a simple mate in one. Before moving his wooden Queen to deliver checkmate, the Devil smiled at Capablance. "What will be your last wish?"

Capablanca thougth for a moment then requested, "Turn your wooden King into gold."

The Devil smirked, then touched his King. The wood slowly melted into gold. Capablance looked at the Devil, a smile on his face. "You have touched your King, Sir. Now you must move it."

The Devil was shocked then sullenly shuffled his King across. Capablanca swooped his Rook down and pronounced, "Checkmate. Maybe we can play agin one day."

In a war-torn era, Jose Raul Capablanca was the celebrity of chess. A prodigy from his younger days, he beat the Chess Champion of Cuba when he was just 13.
