Fastest way to grow a group?

I have been inviting for a while. Is it allowed to advertise a group? And also, how long do I have to wait before I have 75+ PARTICIPATING members?

I am Super Admin of Team1. This group has existed for many months. Just recently, i've started to put my group over my chess playing. I would invite every member I see. Admitingly, i'm not the hardest working Super Admin, but I feel I am not lazy. However, after about 2 weeks of inviting, i've only gained 9 members. And also, of the 50 members in my team, only about 7 are social... sort of. How long do I have to wait? Also, should I collaborate with a group similar in size? To grow my group? Any comments or suggestions will be helpful.

On my previous account, I had a group for a few years, which, at its peak, had upwards of 170 members, and of those, probably around 30 were active. So it does take a while to build a group up.

A few things that you can do are:
1) Make the most active members admins and ask that they invite people as well, so on the days you can't, you have your bases covered.
2) Invite your friends, if you haven't already. There is a much higher likelihood of them joining.
3) Personalize your invites. While this takes time, it lets your recipients know that they individually are wanted.
4) Make sure your group description offers something unique to anyone who reads it, so their interest will spark.

Hope this helps :)

I'm sure it will. Thanks for the advice!

The members invited are very important. If you invite members that only have joined a few groups or members that have been inactive for months, there is a much smaller chance that they will join.

why do you even want a huge group, just have one with people you actually know

But then they won't be too commited. Right? I mean, It does grow your group most definetly. I guess you are sort of right. People are attracted to a large group.

Perhaps your aim should be to make a good group, not a big one.

If all you're doing is adding as many people as possible, what incentive do they have to be active and participate?

So many people here make groups just so they can be admin, but their group does nothing another 1000 groups don't do.

Just keep inviting. Growing a group takes a lot of time, and not all people accept invites. Try to invite people that are quite good at online chess (somewhere from 1500-1900). Any higher and it is likely that they will not accept invites. Try to invite members of other groups, especially members who are active in that group. I am currently an admin in a group with 901 members, but it only has about 150 members who regularly join our team matches. Be patient.
