is there a difference between groups and teams? or are they the same thing?

easyb

They are basically the same thing.  Each group has their own forums where they can discuss issues pertaining to their interests, and then various members of the group will join a team match--making them a team.

It's basically the same thing, just depends how you chose your words, there's already been a few forums on this subject!

groups are individual organizations of members with forums, etc. teams are groups that play chess against other groups/teams. i know. it's confusing :)

Perhaps Groups should be discouraged from calling themselves Teams (and Teams should be discouraged from calling themselves Groups). All of the following are GROUPS - not TEAMS ...

For interest, this (http://www.chess.com/forum/view/community/group-hysteria) is a discussion about GROUPs.

This (http://www.chess.com/forum/view/help-support/first-come-first-served-team-chess) is a discussion about TEAMs.
