Premium memberhsip

My chess improvement has been stagnant. Ive played over a thousand games and my blitz rating can't seem to break 1000. I am interested in becoming a premium member at chess.com for mostly improvement through tactics trainer and videos. For those with membership, does this site really help your rating?

Chess Mentor and Computer Workout are other good tools on chess.com.  

Playing Daily chess is another way to try and improve. Start a 3 days per move game and you can sit there without any pressure thinking about your move and playing out some scenario's on the analysis board before finally making your move.

I looked at some of your games and I gotta say, I'm confused. Some of them you play spot on and others make you look like you're sandbagging. Any explanation?

Very-Very difficult to get better at such fast time controls. Try playing some slower time control games as well.

Even with a premium membership, you should play slower time controls. You have to learn to incorporate what you learn at a speed that gives you time to think and process the new information.

I've only used a few of the premium member services. But I know ALOT of people have been quite pleased by their progress from the tools provided here.

I cancelled my netflix subscription to afford a diamond membership. Worth every penny :P

Chess.com tactics trainer is your best bet

I have occasionally used the Tactics Trainer and Chess Mentor and found them interesting and useful, but I'm not an especially patient person so I often just get fed up with trying to solve problems that just start from some random position rather than those where I evolve towards through playing a whole game.

I'm quite sure that by using all the facilities available on the site (plus videos from youtube channels) you can improve a lot if you have the dedication to, but I have largely accepted my chess ability is fairly stagnant.  One day I may decide to dedicate time to trying to improve and will spend more time on Tactics Trainer and Chess Mentor, but for now I just enjoy playing at the level I'm at.

I love my gold membership. TT is awesome, and Chess Mentor (though it takes a while)  has improved my game. I also enjoy the other benifits of being a premium such as looking at my complete stats and starting turnbased tournaments. Not really. Netflix is pretty cheap, and it's not like you watch movies a lot every single year, maybe just 10 or so.

WHen I lived back in the old country (USA), I had Netflix and I watched at least 5 movies a week.

Fortunately, I now live in a country that does not believe in 'intellectual property', so I can download all the movies I want.

People who praise TT have obviously never tried something else.  TT is laughably simple and bad.
