Warnings for disconnecting

Is it just me who recently keeps getting automated warning messages, advising me not to intentionally abort or disconnect from games? If not, why am I getting the warnings? Recently I keep getting cut off from this website even though my internet connection is fine; and, sometimes when it happens, I quit out and log back in again and return to the game, because it seems to normally work better than waiting for the connection to re-establish itself automatically. I always play 3-minute blitz games, so I have lost an awful lot of games through the disconnections, often from winning positions. And, to add insult to injury, it seems I am then getting told off for it!

The problem is getting worse and worse: the sound used to keep cutting out while I was playing, so I transferred from Internet Explorer to Firefox. For a while it was better, but then the same thing started happening. I therefore started playing on Google Chrome, which is fine in terms of the sound, but it takes ages to "connect" when an opponent first appears (my "bar" is always red at the beginning of games even though my internet connection is fine). I therefore often get timed out by the server before I have even had the chance to make my first move, and so I keep on getting warnings for "aborting". Come on, chess.com, sort it out!

I am using my smartphone to play chess. When i have a lot of apps being active at the background, the cellphone receives messages which take a lot of memory and processing power. This causes delay in my chess apps. I also experienced a lot of disconnections. So, my solution is to use my old iphone again and only chess apps is installed there. As a result, i never experience disconnection again and i seldom experience delay or lag unlike before

Hi

Sandy_Mcbabbins, Why don't you bag it, and stop accusing people of lying about their connection. It's absolutely ridiculous that I keep getting disconnected this much and run my score down to 500 bc of some kind of stall on my computer, or disconnections. Sorry I can't AFFORD a new comp, but there's no reason for the disconnect. There's NOTHING wrong with my connection. There's no point in even playing on this site anymore. Might as well just use it for forums, I'll play notation on chat instead, or how about that, jack! Or how about instead of having to do that they save the game when disconnected instead of giving people screwed up scores and banning them from tournaments. I think its a weak thing to do to customers.

NO one is going to disconnect intentionally in the middle of the game; unless they are total patzers. Even if I lost a rook or queen I'm not going to disconnect bc that's utterly weak and does NOTHING to help improve ability to progress.

I rather think people just leave the game in case they lost interest, sometimes resulting in a disconnect and sometimes not, depending on the platform they are playing on. Thats the core of the problem, the disconnect is just the result. By checking the statistical data (on a technical level) chess.com could sum up everything, generating a warning and punishment in case a strong pattern for 'just' leaving the game shows up.

CookedQueen I had been disconnected 3 times in 1 5 min game. This had happened over several games. I remember there was another site that saved the game, then when you got back it came back and didnt effect the score. That was the right thing to do.
