King & Queen vs. King
I was taught that if you keep your queen at a Knight's hop distance from the opposing King. You limit the space to which it can move, more and more, until you leave him with only two squares. Then you bring your King and deliver checkmate. It can always be done in under 50 moves. And I have done this so many times being a low rated player, that I sincerily ask for someone to prove me wrong if I am, as I have always considered this a forced checkmate.
It's all fun and games until somebody has the experience of an opponent refusing to resign in a lost K+Q vs K ending, taking the full 14 days per move and citing this thread as evidence that he can force a draw.
True enough, sapientdust...but still, I have to admit the spamming troll in me rejoices at ReasonableDoubt's longstanding litany of lunacy!
I hope he chose to close his account and wasn't banned for a little good-natured trolling. I don't think anybody has been banned for an occasional troll yet, have they?
i would like to vs ReasonableDoubt with a king and a queen vs a king.I bet I would smash him easy, i can't believe he thinks its a draw when a king and a queen vs a lone queen. despite him having a much higher rank (I bet he has 2 accounts and cheats). I think he needs to look up stuff before he puts in his input
ReasonableDoubt is long gone, Sam. He left feeling that we weren't worthy of his attention. He also admitted that this post was simply a troll, and yes I fell for it too. Good riddance.
Ok, look, all of you. If you REALLY think this position is a forced win, then you're all... silly. On a massive scale. Eventually, you'll reach a position like this:
Now Black plays the absolutely brilliant 1...Kh8!!
Forcing White's reply: 2. Qf7, with a stalemate if he plays anything else, then Black's reply is obvious: 2...KxK, when Black wins.
that is because white is dumb and, everyone knows there is no such move as KxK!
There's already rampant refusal, particularly among the side with the Queen, to accept draw offers in this deadlocked position. Perpetuating these misconceptions will only make the problem worse.
