Center Control

After playing a lot of 1.E4 opening variations as white, I've recently been exploring 1.D4 openings. Exhausted to the same place as with 1.E4 I found my games reaching the same open and closed positions. I also realized I wasn't learning enough, or analyzing enough to grow as a player and find ways to get the advantage when these positions arise. So I went back to studying the basics. "Control The Center" was the theme of the day.

I am working hard to become a better player. I am currently ranked 1438 playing 10 minute games with opponents 1350-1450. Thank you for commenting.

Thank you RathHood. Glad to know people are reading the annotations too. I think the sequence 10. O-O a6 11. a4Bd7 12. Qe2 is very interesting. I learned quite a bit in this game; center control, importance of and ways to gain tempo and setting up tactical play.

The sequence you mentioned - he gives up fight for control (wants only to push bishop c4 away), you set up to take even more centre. Example like this could be in any begginers book i a chapter about meaning of the centre. Classic game.
