I don't think f5 is good in the position where white can attack the N with his own f-pawn. This idea of lodging a N in supported by the f- and d-pawns is something I have seen in Pillsbury's games playing the Queen's Gambit as white. He used it to devestating effect at times. I don't know if it is seen much now. I'll find an example in a minute but one more comment. I think you could have played 30. Rxg7 because Kxg7 allows white to fork the black rook and king.
