Not sure how I got into trouble

I played black this game. Any comments would be appreciated.

So a few questions.

On move 10 you suggest I capture the knight. After 10 ...Bxf3 11. Bxf3 Nd7 12. Be3 is this position superior for black by virtue of white's dark squared bishop being stuck guarding his d-pawn?

Instead of 12 ...b6  what should I have played?

The reason I avoided Ne4 was because of white's knight on c3. If, for instance, I had played 16 ...Ne4 like you suggest after 17. Nxe4 Bxe4 has white made much development? I don't understand how that position is superior for black?

Could you explain how 29 Rxe5 is a perpetual? I have a very hard time seeing these.

I actually never knew that the best way to counter a flank attack was to play for the center. I really don't think I understand chess strategy all too well. When an opponent is pushing his flanking pawns at me I often crumble. In fact, so far I've usually tried to counter flank attacks by another flank attack on the opposite side of the board. I used to play the dragon from time to time, and that seemed to be the appropriate strategy there. I've generally applied that to all my games, with not a lot of success. I'll try to see if I can figure out how to counter in the center.

I'm actually so scared of the flank attack that I sometimes delay castling to make sure that my opponent has committed to not flank-attacking.
