i like this but why trade a very active knight for a dark squared bishop doing nothing. you should have just been going for the pawn. black can respond, Bxd3 Qxd3 and only lose a pawn.

i like this but why trade a very active knight for a dark squared bishop doing nothing. you should have just been going for the pawn. black can respond, Bxd3 Qxd3 and only lose a pawn.
The reason in my mind was due to his pawn structure. His two knights can currently only move to the outside edge. His rooks are far from being able to be active. His white squared bishop doesn't have much movement. If he unblocks his dark square bishop he will gain a lot of movement on the board so I wanted to knock it out early.
If he decides to strike first and trades white squared bishops...
I was very happy that I came up with this response to black's moves. The sad part was several moves later black resigned when I didn't have an immediate mate on him and I really wanted to see if I could finish the game strong or if I'd make some mistakes.
