I believe I got IP banned from chess.com, as I get an error 5713 whenever I try to log in to this site. The only reason I was able to create this account is because I happen to be in a different location at the moment.

My account, jliu2367, has premium membership. It has been that way for about three years. Chess has became a part of my life ever since I joined the chess team at my high school, and I find myself on this site to improve on my chess skills so that I can do better in my tournaments. Just recently, I found that that account got closed and my brother also had his account closed. I do not know what caused the abrupt closing of my account and my brother's. I suspect that my brother decided to do something naughty with his account, causing both of us to be banned. All I ask for now is for our accounts to be reopened. I have sent a ticket about this two days ago, but got no response. I promise to close this account once my real account gets reinstated.

They should make you prove that you have a "brother" since that is your claim.

I really wonder how many of the "someone else in my house" defenses are actually true. No way of ever knowing if one person is playing two accounts from the same location, or if two people are playing one account from the same location.

The funniest defense I have ever seen was "My brother must have been playing my account earlier. He must have downloaded hacks. He must have left them on and I didnt notice when I was just playing in your server. Please unban."

Focus on the details.   "My account has premium membership, has been that way for about three years".  (I'm not a moderator BTW, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night)Wink

I just want to play chess again on my real account. I apologize for any breach of TOS I unknowningly made earlier. As for multiple accounts, what if I have a few friends over who log on to chess.com? Won't they have logged on to chess.com using my house's IP, and having chess.com mistake that as another account for the same person? That could be the source of the problem as I do remember having a few parties at my house where my friends and I did go on chess.com occasionally.

first is was your brother and now is your friends, this is getting a little cheesy.

Hey, I don't know how chess.com disable accounts. I am just looking at possibilities as to why chess.com decided to disable mine. Multiple accounts seems to be the prime suspect, but I do not ever remember making another account for myself other than this one, which i promise to close as soon as I get my old account reinstated. But if I did not make any other accounts, couldn't it be possible that other people who logged in to chess.com using my home's IP be mistaked as another account?

They can check login history.

If an account logs in one time from your IP, but 100's of times elsewhere, it's pretty obvious it's not a multiple account.

If 5 accounts login only from your one IP, you better start making up a good story. Parents have accounts. Other siblings have accounts. Friends came over and made accounts, but never use them anywhere else. ect.

Did you check your messages? Anyway, as I said there, staff will have to get involved. Give them a little longer to get to your ticket.

Yes, your IP was banned from chess.com. Probably best not to discuss this via the open forum - you will be getting a Message from me shortly.
