I totally agree...people are really unkind as times, especailly when they lose!
Competition does have a way of bringing out the worst in some people. Winners are just as prone to succumb as are losers. I've seem 900 players acting like they thought they were Bobby Fischer because they beat an 800 player.
I played a few times at Live Chess here!
So mess offending conversations and spam!
Do not allow your child play here!
I would totally disagree with your last statement. A few experiences from some people is not going to affect the entire chess.com community. This site is the best place to learn and play chess. Spamming and offending conversation happen very rarely to me. If you are concerned about it, do not play on live chess.

Most conversations at the Live Chess are mess!..
I would say that just like the stalk of rice, it which stands proud high when still empty of rice grains, but then begins to stoop when loaded with rice grains. The chess player likewise acts like rice stalk too. Proud and arrogant when still in need of the full knowledge of chess, but then begins to be humble upon gaining the full understanding of chess principle.

I remember about 12 years ago when my high school orchestra went to play for the elementary school children.... the words and behavior they exhibited really set me back. I didn't remember being that unruly at so young an age. Society is really in trouble if you ask me. There is such a sense of self-granduer and entitlement in this country that it makes me sick. People live only for their own selfish means.
i have yet to run into any problems except in live chess

We all make the World what it is, good or bad depends on whether you are the giver or receiver. What ever the case might be I go on to the next Chess game. I really do not have the time to correct anyone, I'm to busy trying to keep my on life straight.
