re: Petrosian Vs Larsen, Beverwijk 1960.
It looks like the white queen is in the 3rd row to me, not the second.

Correct, see the diagram I posted #1324. The White Queen is on e3.

Sorry, I meant the 4th row. In the picture, there is a whole row (3rd row) between the white king and white queen. This would make it not possible to be the game in your diagram.
The man who arguably saved the 1972 Fischer/Spassky world title match.
(and he's not a bad chess player either!)

Jim Slater?

Correct. Well done.
I read recently where Slater said that he never got to meet Bobby Fischer
depsite doubling the prizemoney for the Iceland match.
Yes, I remember he put in a serious amount of 'wedge' to ensure the match took place, despite the fact that he was a hated capitalist "asset stripper".
Slater was convicted of massive ($8 mil.) improper trading in 1979 (for company gain, not personal gain) but only received a slap on the wrist (a $32 fine per each of the 15 counts plus $1575 to the prosecution), so this chess angel has slightly tarnished wings. Here's a photo of Slater from 1977:
i dont think he was "fined." i think the US government considered his actions at the press conference before the match an act of treason and they put out an arrest warrant on him.

The US Govt considered his actions to be in violation of sanctions against Yugoslavia which was in the middle of a bloody civil war at the time. There was an arrest warrant on him, and certainly not for treason!
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
Yeah, there's a whole bunch of shots like that. Havana 1965 if I'm remembering right (the one Fischer played by Telex).
