Higher rated bullet players are actually easier

One week ago my bullet rating was 1228, and I was struggling to make any headway. I happened to play one guy over and over again who was quite a bit weaker than me, and gained a bunch of points. After that, I started getting matched with players 1350+, who all seemed quite weak!

Suddenly, my rating has shot up to 1481 (currently 1474). I haven't changed the way I play at all, but for some reason the players I'm getting drawn against don't seem nearly as hard, or perhaps more importantly in bullet, as fast. I've been easily beating 1400+ opponents, and I swear they are easier than many, many 1250 players.

I wonder, do you think that with the new matching algorithm that tries to assign you a player close to your rating that it's possible there are actully now pools of players stuck at certain levels who may be better than higher ranks? I certainly think so. If you're constantly playing 1200-1300 players you're going to have a tough time, because there's such a big pool and they will all be similar.

There's also a lot more players in the 1150-1350 groups, so I think it's possible the competition is much fiercer.

Has anyone else encountered this phenomenon? Now that I'm out of that pool I am finding I'm progressing really swiftly. I imagine if and when I get to 1500 I will probably start getting thumped a lot, and expect to probably drop down to 1300 again soon, so I'm just going to ride it as long as possible.

Just beat a 1504 player. Heaps of time left. Seriously, this is crazy!
