Allow me:

Troll or no troll, you are breaking a bunch of the site's rules as oultined in the TOS in your post.

It fixes the grammar problem, and it points out that TOS = Terms of Service.

This post clearly shows that the swearing in my earlier post was opportunity for him to point out, that, yes indeed, that I broke some rules. As if I were the first.

In addition to TOS, allow me to add YHJBT and HAND.

No joke. I just had a guy send me a PM asking if I shaved my genitals. (edited)

2. It also doesn't stop you from placing a piece on a different square; you can just "accidentally" drop a piece and place it on a different square, if your opponent isn't paying close attention.

3. It also doesn't stop you from taking back a losing move; you can pick up your queen, for example, and place it on every legal square without letting it go, and then let it go on the best one.

(...)

How do you define "placing" a piece on a square?

"Touching" is easily defined and seen by the opponent (or even the guys playing their own games on the next table). If you have to involve a complex combination of time spent in the same position and distance to the center of the square it gets harder.

December_TwentyNine

Let's jest get to the point!

December_TwentyNine

Hi sweetie, you are under arrest for digging through old threads and bumping them. Put your hands on top of your head so I can tickle you freely.

Admiral_Kirk

Ever heard the proverb, "don't beat a dead horse"?

wanmokewan

Americans say beat. I guess Brits say flog?

December_TwentyNine

I believe Kaynight is Scottish. Correct me if I'm wrong.

December_TwentyNine

Thanks for the clarification, my lord.

Admiral_Kirk

Very well, don't flog a dead horse either.

macer75

Just noticed from looking at earlier posts in this thread that MrDamonsmith's account was closed. Anybody know why?

JonHutch

If your oppenents hand keeps blocking your view it could disrupt calculation.

You don't even get the question, do you?

BTW, I'm just a new member on this site. I've been playing chess for much longer than you think, and probably longer than you.

But not long enough to understand why touch move is important...

SMH

In casual games it isn't. I could play chess casually for 20 years, and it might never occur to me that a rule like touch move could be useful.

starrynight14

You can see an opponents reaction by moving your hand towards a piece and then withdrawing it?  So that's not touching it.

flavio2412

But It's not an hard move ... after some games u just think before touching pieces  =)
