Incorrect Chess Stalemate

How is this a stalemate?

Scereno

Black's King can't move without placing himself in check and the pawn's progression is blocked by the bishop.

NickWalker12

Then white wins by default surely?

theREALpro

It is a stalemate:

Ka4-rook

Ka6-bishop

Kb5-pawn,bishop, queen

Kb6 and Kb4-queen

pawn is blocked by bishop.

Result-stalemate.

theREALpro

Stalemate=draw.

Kens_Mom

Stalemates are draws. :(

NickWalker12

Strange rules. I just dont understand them then XD

yourChess

The black king can not move.I think that the stalemate rule is awkward.

Perhaps a better question is, why would you let this happen? I saw at least 3 mate in 1 or 2s. Why not play any of those?

NickWalker12

Because I didnt see them till after. My first game of chess in a really long time. Playing with a friend on skype.

NickWalker12

Haha, I'm sorry. Call me a noob :) Thanks for the info.

Is this game for real? this is awesome!

NickWalker12

Unfortunately, it is a real game. Both of us noobs, as you can tell.

ori0

Don't worry about it you will improve quickly, that's how it is at the beginning, good luck!

atarw

Sure. There's also 36. Bd2#.

But my favorite is 36. b4+ cxb (forced) 37. Bd2 stalemate (instead of the pawn being blocked, it's pinned.)
