and how can it require logical decision making?? you never can get any smarter then the programmers who programmed it..

Uhmm. I'm speechless... maybe you are so unique you comprehend statements differently than most people?

you have to make logical decisions in the logic the programmer had when he programmed the code.

Playing a software and programming it are 2 entirely different things you know?

Yes, quite true I might say. These days, youngsters prefer to play crappy but popular MMORPGS (Multiplayer Massively Online Role Playing Games) over "boring" and "nerdy" board games.

I don't play MMOs but come on, be reasonable. We're all just chosing different ways to waste time here.

no its not, the chess knowledge you gain sticks with you forever while Wow will soon be only a corn of dust in history.

You can say that because you don't play WoW. Most probably you will suck at it since it's a strategy game requiring good spatial perception, good hand-eye coordination, relatively fast reflexes, logical decision-making, etc. Well I won't blame you, since most people really look at games as just "games".

i had a shadowpriest 60 lvl (epics full, molten core, staff of benediction etc etc..) until the "Burning Crusade'' when i stopped playing....I am so happy i don't have anymore the reflexes that show that i literally burn my self in front of the PC...How you can even compare Chess with WOW???? In chess you have to work things in your mind you don't require a PC to play ot to train....also you don't have to farm OMG!! lol

Suvel

probably

It has been 30mins and I'm still finding where I compared Chess to WoW. If my memory serves me right, I am merely refuting what Tetsuo said.

No, world of Warcraft takes that title sadly.

RuneScape had the title before the stupid Evolution of Combat update.

Actually you are right you didn't xD    It was the thread impression...anyway WOW is not exactly a strategy game...Starcraft or Warcraft are pure strategy....it is Role playing style...

So many things are wrong with this thread, but the thing that sticks is HOW IS WOW AN RTS?!?!?!?!? You DO know what that means right?!

Well from what I knew WoW, Starcraft, LoL and the likes are RealTimeStrategy  while Ragnarok, Dragon Nest, etc. are RolePlayingGames

Well..that's totally wrong..Wow is RP it uses the pen and paper system(like Dungeons and Dragons or Vimpire) for character development and skills application..the only difference is that everything is automated and digital...You would never say that for example Buldur's Gate is a strategy game......why?? Rome total war is a strategy game..or LoL as you said....

Well I am certain Starcraft is an RTS -> StarCraft: Brood War is the expansion pack for the award winning military science fictionreal-time strategy video game StarCraft.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StarCraft:_Brood_War

mvtjc

This too -> Warcraft is a franchise of video gamesnovels, and other media originally created byBlizzard Entertainment. The series is made up of four core games: Warcraft: Orcs & HumansWarcraft II: Tides of DarknessWarcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and World of Warcraft. The first three of these core games are in the real-time strategy genre

mvtjc

I think the "real-time" part in RTS is what makes it an RTSUndecided

I'm guessing but I suspect there are substantially more people playing bridge online at any one time than playing chess.
