Check out my coaching services page. I am brand new to it and I am only about a 1600-1700uscf rated player. I would like to teach seriously one day and I am offering to help out beginner players in the 1000 range or below preferably. I am not charging because I want to gain some experience teaching. I am sure some ppl will criticize me for not being rated high enough to teach but oh well. Free of charge for now so if you want my help message me you have nothing to lose.

where is the page ?

Basic question ==>> have you figured out why you are only a B Class player, and what are you doing about it?

For example, I have figured some things out -- I am good at positional chess, but need major work on tactics and attacking skills.  My major problem is transitioning from the middle game to a decent end-game.

What suggestions would you have to improve my playing skills?

Is positional chess fancy speak for "move your pieces to better squares than where they are right now". That's the chess advice I got in one line from a college chess champ.

I wish I had more time to play but I dont. I haven't had much time to dedicate to playing long time control games or studying. If I had the time I'm pretty sure I could break the 1800 barrier considering I've played and won some games against players of that strength. If you want some suggestions I would have to look at some of your games first.

My coaching page should be in my profile just click on my username.

It's good to have positional knowledge but people tend to get caught up in it. I for one am guilty of that. I studied it extensively thinking I could ignore tactics and how wrong I was. Tactics are probably the best thing you can study especially of you're under 2000.

As a typical 1200 - 1400, I lose most games when the other guy makes a move I haven't seen before. The game is almost always lost in the opening or in the end game (poor transition from middle to end game). Tactics I can live with. It's the calculation bit and the positional bit that get to me.

This is possibly the best video I've seen at my level. And I do all the crazy things white does and get choked by the slow, sneaky moves of stronger opponents.

I took a quick look at some of your games and this doesnt seem entirely true.  I sent you a message.

I am trying to transition from online to live (30 minute) games.  Would you be willing to help me with that?

1600-1700 is fine for teaching. We have 6 teachers at Bergen Chess Mates at this and below teaching. Be careful when asking people though. I was put on trial found guilty and fined $500 for "Solicitaion without a Permit." "Attempting to take or gain favor by Schmoozing." In Haworth NJ in 2011.

I would be happy that you will coach me. Look my games, i have 5 days on chess, i suck a bit cause i give free pieces or miss stupid things, but im not bad in 10 min blitz.

Thanks.

Hey! Thanks for the offer I would also love to take you up on it

I used to be very good at chess for my age (without needing to learn tactics or openings) but then I stopped for about 5 years and I would like start up again and improve by learning tactics and stuff. Is it possible that you could teach me?

mattyf9
