New Stat Category Needed... Top 10 Best Wins

We need new stat categories in our stat profile: Top 5 best wins, Top worst losses (Hall of Shame), best come from behind wins... etc etc etc.

What do you think?

I was just looking at my stats and thinking what else would be a good interesting meaningful stat to include... then it hit me after staring at my cheap "best win" vs. emilyjoieofstpaul 2351 (she timed out with only 10 moves into the game)...

Why not have a stat category that shows your top 10 (or 5?..whatever works) best wins you ever had and not just your best "win".

1. It would include links to each game of course

2. Time out wins could still be included since some T.O.s occure after the game has been decided (the losing player doesn't resign but just lets his time run out)

3. It could be like your trophy case where you display your best games for other players to check out. Thats why top 5 maybe better for space reasons.

4. Your Top 10 best wins could be listed by ratings or....

5. Maybe a Top 5 by ratings (chess.com posts this automatically) and a top 5 by your favorite game (you post these games in another showcase)

6. I mean you can keep going.... how about.. Top 5 best comeback wins (games you should have lost, thought about resigning, but pressed on and won).

7. All of these Stat categories of course would be on your chess profile conveniently placed where others can easily check out.

What do you guys think? Are there any other meaningful stats that should be included?

If you want to showcase games you can actually embed them right into your profile.

I think that the problem of best-wins on time-outs prior to the game being decided is one that deserves some attention though.  It would be nice to be able to optionally suppress those games from your "best win" so that the user could decide whether to showcase that game or another more deserving "best win".

Thanks TheGrobe

I knew you could imbed your best games... I was thinking of something that is done automatically by the chess.com program.. instead of that often misleading "best win" stat.

I too like the idea of being able to manipulate a top best games list...

How about worst losses? :)

 Yup!..lol...why not?

TheGrobe

Sure, why not.  I've got a couple of real embarrassing ones.

clms_chess

I sure do.... especially those that you reeealy snatched defeat from the jaws of victory... or..coming from waaay ahead... to lose.

Any other stat category that we might try to convince the powers to be to consider?

clms_chess

Yup... padman... could not have said it any better. Now we have to convince erik and co.

Ripper89

you all have some good ideas guys...I'm with you Cool

clms_chess

Thanks Ripper..... I think these ideas are great too. What else could you possibly do to personalize your chess profile better than your list of best, worst and greatest comebacks of your chess.com career?

Lets hope others feel the same way.

clms_chessdc

good idea, there should also be a "most embarrassing games" showcase. i had a win, but put my unprotected queen right by my opponents king in the endgame, and got a draw

clms_chess

I think its a great idea.... we just need others to voice their opinion too.

So far.... 6.

I think, some of us might be embarassed by how pathetic their personal list is.....

Embaressed by your top five best wins? Or..your top five best come from behind wins? These are games that you are most proud of.

As far as your Hall of Shame list (top five worst losses), it was suggested that you could have the option of NOT posting that. I would not have problems with it..but I know many players would.

theoreticalboy

...I'm supposed to be proud of my games?

Well.. maybe you are not... and I'm sure others might feel the same way. But the vast majority of players here are proud of their wins. If not... we would not have a need for ratings or any of the other almost endless list of chess stats.

But if your not proud of your games/wins...thats cool.

theoreticalboy

Just kidding, for the record.  I think it's a fine idea.  Even if I am awful.

clms_chess

Lol... you had me.

Lets hope others respond.

A time out win is hardly a "best win."

While it would be cool to see a list of a player's best wins (and worst losses), if you're only basing that on ratings that's probably easy to implement.

But if you're suggesting best win based on some sort of brilliancy you played, that means humans have to evaluate the game. Imagine staff receiving hundreds or even thousands of games every day for a "brilliancy" prize. Gasp! It'll never work.

Thank you for your input. You are right. Thats why the 5 best wins would replace the "best win" by rating and would be automatic (5 worst-hall of shame too). You could have the choice of showing these or not.

But in addition to this.. there could be a section in your profile where you could put what you thought was your best wins that were not based on ratings.

As mentioned above... to be considered too would be best come from behind wins.

Anyway...these are just ideas that are being batted around... :)
