Yes keep going at it. You will get better. Also the more frequently you use it I believe the less variability in the delta of the rating. Tactics trainer is all or none with only one solution which sometimes makes the the results harsh but it is a great tool for improving chess vision and understanding.
When I miss a problem I always look at the answers and even sometimes the computer evaluations and then re do it. Those things "you never thought of" are the keys to improving your chess vision
Hey all...
I came across this site about 10 days ago or so. have always loved chess but have never had the people to play with on a regular basis so for years i had put the game down. Not great by any means (online rating is only 1450 or so). Could not name a single opening and have no idea what to do against any certqain opening as of yet. Really enjoy playing though.
My question is about the Tactics trainer. Getting real frustrated with it. I believe you start off with a rating of 1000 or so and it adjust from there. had no idea how it worked initially and caused my rating to drop below 700. Now i sit down with it a couple times a day for 3-45 minutes and do the tests. I may get four or five correct then I will miss one or two. Seem like anytime I get my rating back around 900, thats when i miss a couple. MOST of the time, when i see the solution it was a dumb mistake on my part and it should have been obvious. Occasionally the solution is something I would have never thought of. Thise dont bother me, its the dumb mistakes that drive us all insane I guess. I think its the time limit that gets to me, dont know.
Question is this, should I just keep pluggin away at it? Right now my pass rating is only 62%. Although that is a better rating than where I was a few days ago. Should I just keep working on the trainer or actually study another part of the game? Maybe I should be working towards a different part of the game. Any help or ideas here?
Thank you..
