The more you lose - The more you lose

Just a thought and I was wondering if other players feel the same. Sometimes you win 10 games in a row, you feel mellow, chilled out and relaxed and it's not even you playing, it's a deeper inner part of you. The winning moves just flow. The you stop because you have to cook and, in my case, feed the parrot. The next evening, you lose one game, then another, and a third, you play out of habit and have other things on your mind, you lose and get agressive and lose some more, the more agressive you get, the more you lose, because with agression you can not tap into your inner self where your moves flow by instinct. Agression and focus seldom go together, in chess and in real life.

This applies to me also. I usually find myself angry when I lose a game and, then, because I have not calmed down yet I have a losing streak of many games.

It's the same as in sports. Have you ever been "in the zone" in a sport that you play a lot? I've had it happen before ... once, in a golfing round, where every shot I hit was straight and right down the middle. It felt so easy, like there was just nothing to it. I had the feeling that I could play that way every round, that I had somehow figured out the game. the next round a couple of days later, it was gone. I was back to being a struggle - missing fairways, occasional mishits, etc.

I've noticed chess is like that too. I once had my blitz rating climb to almost 1850, and I was beating everyone I played. But now I don't know if I could ever get there again ... I sometimes lose to guys rated 1450 or so and just can't seem to avoid bad blunders, etc.

When untying knots, this is actually a beneficial principle.

I've had that too. There's times when I've annihilated opponents with little or no concentration on my part. Other times, I lose or blunder so bad and so often that I want to rip my own face off...

Check out my 3 most recent live games. I know how you feel.

Gotta find that zone inside of ya' and remember what it feels like. That way the next time you look at the pieces, you will remember what it felt like.

Hi Grobe, my spelling mistake, now corrected.  But it applies to knots just the same.

Thats when I switch up opponents. Go play somebody easier, to get my confidence back.

Yes. In a "when it rain's it pours" kind of way, it's like Montrose's old hard rock blues standard Rock Candy (but only this one line):

"When you're down and out, well there ain't a doubt - nobody loves you"
