This thread is freaking hilarious.

At first I thought it would be just plain hilarious, but calling him a sheep really amped it up a notch.

ps. You're trying to "take back" moves, in tournaments??  That's a rather large 'odds' imposition on your opponent imo, on the order of rook odds for some rating levels.

(post #2) It seems apt to re-state the obvious here at this point.

It's really pretty incredible that someone would think the CANCEL button could be used for taking back moves that had already been submitted.

No kidding, I was laughing out loud at the question...

A wise chess mentor once told me, "Until you are absolutely sure you want to make a move, sit on your hands." That'd work here too, I believe. Wink

How can you keep prattling on when you have discovered for yourself, several times apparently, that the behavior of the CANCEL button doesn't work that way?  It doesn't work that way in other instances either.  Or would you expect that clicking the CANCEL button in the window below would undo any settings changes you had already made by clicking the APPLY button?  Here's a big hint:  ain't gonna happen.  The CANCEL button will only undo any preliminary changes you've made before clicking the APPLY button.  Standard behavior and setup.

You're just a sore loser who's mad because he can't take back bad moves made in haste.

Well, we've passed the thirty post point for what I feel is a topic beaten to death (wish I could but I can't, so the site should change the design for me, sorta topic).

I'm outta here.

Keep 'pratting', Is that even a word?

No, but the way I spelled it, with an "l" after the second "t", is a word.  Buy a dictionary if you don't know how to look it up in your browser.

You still can't comprehend that once you've clicked the "SUBMIT" button you are no longer "in the process" of submitting.  There has to be a final point of commitment to the move after which you can't take it back, and that's exactly what the SUBMIT button is.

By the way, great job you're doing of not responding.

HAW!  You answered your own question instantly with your very next sentence. Cool

Geeezus, how unintelligent can one person be? The browser, itself, is still in the process of submitting the move.

And, I continue to respond in hope of coming across somebody who uses that thing inbetween their ears, and unfortunately, that is not you.

So hit the stop button on the browser.  Pretend it says cancel and pray for a slow internet connection.

Jeezum.

When you click the submit button, your move is pretty much instantly sent. Try it, click submit and then close the browser out. Most likely your move still went through. So a cancel button to stop it from submitting it pretty much useless as you aren't very likely to be faster then the browser is at submitting it. The delay after clicking submit is merely the browser re-displaying the page with the changes done. (the time it take to reload the page)

As for the function of the cancel button. It is what it is, a button to use instead of submit to move your piece back and try again, nothing else. To make so much fuss over yourself not having the control to not click submit until you really want to submit pretty much is laughable. If it really bothers you that much, don't play.

. . . all other cancel buttons except for those which don't happen to work that way.  Which is almost all other instances.

I can just imagine how many times you've pestered your credit card company claiming you didn't really mean to buy an item but the cancel button didn't work after you clicked SUBMIT.
