Sound keeps cutting out

Sort:

refreshing fixes it, but in live chess the sound continues to cut out on its own,  the piece movement sounds just stops. I am using Google chrome and I have tried emptying the cashe several times. it has gotten worse since last week. It used to happen about once a week a mild bug, annoyance.

Now it is now happening in every game i play in... 1/2 way through a 10 minute game, it is very irritating. Suggestions?

I don't know for certain but here are a few suggestions to test yourself:

1. Try a different browser

If problem persisits then try:

2. Control panel>Hardware and Sound>

and make sure the volume is being played under the mixer or the manage audio devices tab.

If problem still persists:

3. Seek an expert and change the speakers.

Let me know if the problem still persists. I would be very surprised if it did. It could be needing updating of your sound card or something small...I don't know but I am trying to be of some help so let me know. [I may need to ask you something.]

thanks james but the problem is fixed when i refresh the browser... so its not the speakers or hardware settings, maybe using another browser would fix it, but i dont want to, ive been using chrome on this site for 2 years, chrome is the best! and if it is a chrome problem then im sure the staff would want to know...i havent tried updating my flash player yet... ill try that, i know my chrome is current

Me too, sometimes sound in Google Chrome works, sometimes it doesn't. Once, someone told me to watch a YouTube video, and I watched, but I told them that I didn't have audio. Then I unpause the video, and audio comes back :P

I don't know, I haven't found any helpful help stuff online.

All I can comment on w/ my "anti-establishment" views is that I have no problem using Firefox and because I was a keen Facebook user I am anti-Google lol.

It may well be compatibility problems w/ Google Chrome and chess.com. I have used chrome and think it is good but each browser has it's flaws.

I hope the issue gets sorted, I doubt tweaking the setting of Google Chrome would work, but it is worth a try. I am the same w/ you when it comes to brand loyalty but Firefox is almost mint. You will like it.

The fact sound comes on then cuts off suggests to me some problem w/ compatibility and settings/updates but then I'm no expert (;
