time out

Yes, this game has now been restored for you as you are a premium member and still have vacation time left so your auto-timeout protection should have prevented this.
Likely it was a case where the auto-timeout protection did kick in but then when you returned from vacation you did not make your move in time for that game. Please in the future be careful of this.

By the way, is there any way i could get my rating readjusted? I lost about 30pts for that game i didnt lose!

Hello,
I have a game vs. a member whose account was closed. There has only been one move made. Will I get the credit for the win and the ratings adjusment?

Appears there was change in policy. Account-closed games are now showing as a resignation rather than a timeout so the game will affect ratings without a minimum number of moves requirement.

From my point of view, there is a lot of problems made by CHESS.com STAFF vith VACATIONS!
At first, I think that it is not fair to add vacation time as a privilege for "PREMIUM" MEMBERS! The same story with INDULGENSIES - pay (US) and enjoy your game!
At second, when I had announce my Easter vacation, I received a massage from admin, that states that I may go to vacations only when there is my opponent's move! So I was FORSED to make a move immediately for going on vacation!
Of course, "DURA LEX SED LEX " (The Law is Strict, but it is the Law),but..... While I was playing with A PERMIUM MEMBER from US, he made an interesting TRICK: just an hour before his time will be expired, he announce that he is on vacation! Moreover, he "returned" for the game 20 minutes after the announcement! The story was presented to moderator of the tournament, and I was told that I might send my claims to staff, that is all!
By the way, all my claims consernimg "strage" reactions of TACTIC TRAINER for labelling two or tree my tasks as "SKIPPED" within 2-3 seconds from start (the tasks simply were not loaded!) were in vain!
Dear colleagues, please, voice YOUR OPPINIONS OF THESE MATTERS!
Sincerely, Alex.

By the way, I failed correct mispints in the previous massage! Please, pardom me for my poor English as well.
Alex

Your engish is better than most American's. Wish I spoke something other than, maybe a future project.

All premium members have timeout protection. If my time for a game is about to expire, the site will put me on vacation time automatically. So there is no trick.

Well, I understand this. But I seriously doubt whether it is fair! May be, the next step will be to allow "Premium members" to automatically enlarge the board (if there is a mate) or make reveral moves in a row (thus mating the opponent).
The question is as follows: WHY ALL THE PARTICIPANTS OF A TOURNAMENT ARE IN DIFFERENT CONDITIONS? WHY THE PAYMENT TO CHESS.COM GIVES SOMEONE A PRIVILEGE IN TOURNAMENT?
ALEX

There needs to be an incentive to become a premium member hence the extras. I dont think it gives any advantage in a tournament except for preventing a player from timing out and lord knows there are enough players who enter tournaments only to time out. I have played in tournaments and been beaten by players who then went on to time out in the rest of their games thus giving the other players in my group an advantage over me.

The question is as follows: a premium member is AUTOMATICALLY in better position, and I am at a loss (or must pay for nothing to get an EXTRA time).
Actually, I was FORSED to do an IMMEDIATE move (of course, it was a mistake and I lost a pawn in 2 moves) just to add 1 day to my legal 3-days term for analysis! Are you sure that is fair?
By the way, to send a payment to CHESS.com for "Privileged status" costs in Ukraine some EXTRA ~$15. So I ask: what for?!
Alex

Automatic time out protection thats what for! Premium members dont have unlimited vacation time and if you feel some one is abusing their vacation time you can report it. If you feel that you need more time in games, try playing games over a longer period thus giving you more time without needing vacation time.

My two-cents. I agree with namn_kiev that it is unfair to have an advantage (time-out protection) in a game based on membership level. I want my games to be on a level playing field. The advantage may be small but it's still an advantage. Membership advantages should be in the form of access to features, no advertising, etc.
I also agree that a person should be allowed to go on vacation regardless of whose move it is. The only time I go on vacation is when urgent circumstances have arisen and I don't think I should be forced to think about making a bunch of chess moves when I need to leave for a few days to attend an unscheduled funeral.
I do feel you should be able to start vacations regardless of whose move it is. But your meter starts running even if it is the opponents deliberation time.

Patzer24,
This actually happened to me as well, if you check my history you'll notice that I have 1 timeout despite having automatic timeout protection. I did come back from vacation and it said that I had 20 minutes to make a move, so I made the move easily within the time left but then it indicated that I had already run out of time. I felt at the time that this was odd and I did mention this in a previous forum but was never resolved. Is it possible to have this game reinstated? The game was from awhile back so I can understand your reluctence to do this but if you could give it some consideration it would be much appreciated? Thanks again for a great site!
Hi i was wondering how i managed to time out of a game despite having vacation time left and being a premium member? Is there any way it can be reinstated?
