Disconnect a good idea?

When losing a live game, is it better to resign or simply disconnect?

I noticed Chess.com is a game site with the highest integrity.  I'm glad they have a fair play policy.

sometimes the button of resignation does not respond,so i keep on playing on,the button is hard,and not soft to press for the mouse.disconnections are losing behavior ,we will just understand the guy for losing  a game.

 It is definitely best to just resign. Disconnecting is rude and disrespectful to your opponent. Also, as stated before, your account my suffer certain implications if you are reported for disconnecting losing games.

Just resign. Disconnecting is a bad behavior and waste of time. No place in live chess.

I've only recently returned to the site after a good year or two off and just began playing some live chess.  Of my first 5 matches (4 wins, 1 loss), 3 of the 4 wins required me to sit there for 2 minutes when the match was clearly decided and the opponent disconnected.  Literally 1 out of 4 opponents had the courtesy to actually push the resign button.  Must we individually report people like this or does chess.com have an automated service that checks for trends like this across the player community?  With a 75% no-class ratio (small sample set I know), that would be a lot of "reporting" to have to go through on a regular basis.  Surely this isn't the only option?

One wonders why disconnecting is an option.  TCP/IP is only a reliable protocol if each client can remain connected to the POP.  Perhaps chess.com's expansion requires more servers to maintain flawless connections?  Kudos to chess.com for an outstanding website.

The transport protocol and reliability of chess.com's servers is not an issue here, otherwise my opponents (and I presumably) would be experiencing disconnects at completely random times (i.e. not always when a game is in a completely won position).  This is purely a reflection of no respect for your opponent.  If this were OTB chess, you wouldn't simply get up and walk away without saying something to your opponent, particularly if you were in a lost position.  My original questions still remain if anyone cares to address them.

If the resign button doesn't work, disconnecting is probably the quickest way to end the game.  Why does a disconnect have a 2-minute fuse?

Another annoying behaviour: I have had games where my opponent was in a lost position, then apparently abandoned the game with 10 minutes on this clock (not a network disconnect, just idle), only to play a move in the last few seconds before his clock ran out. The only reason I saw this was because I still had the game open in another tab. I think he was hoping that I would have left the game, and then I would be the one to lose when my clock ran out, after having falsely assumed he was gone for good. I think this was before the auto-disconnect rule was implemented, though.

My internet connection is poor, an their has been numorus time when i had a won [NOT EVEN WINING BUT ALREDY WON POSTION] and with 10 to 30 seconds left on the clock and my connection gets interruped then when it comes back its eather 3sec or none and I lose on time. I can go back through all the Games i have played so far and about 20% of them I had a Won position but lost on time b/c of connection gets interruption.. can i report this to Chess.com  b/c I would like to play in some Tournaments???

I have exprienced this problem many times by low-rated opponents.

They disconnect, because it hurts so much to press the resign button!! Hey come on, get a life and be a man and resign if your opponents is better than you / you are playing bad etc.

I mostly play 10 minute games, sometimes they just let the clock run out from like 8 minutes.

Maybe chess.com could put some punishment in place for this kind of behaviour?

The disconnect exists as it does because sometimes players genuinely lose connection. It happens to me occasionally as I live in Mexico. It seems fair to me that if you disconnect you should have a couple of minutes to reconnect if possible. It would be really frustrating if you lost as soon as you disconnected.

Oh, and of course I have no time for people who disconnect instead of resigning. Just grow a pair and resign like a man!

Seems like fewer disconnects lately.

How could oyu say such a thing?!?! DISCONNET?!? Just resign, it'll make everybody happy (including yourself: guilt).
