Composing is very hard. First you have to make sure there're no alternate solutions; then you have to make sure there actually is an interesting solution left.

(15+13) Legal?

Never settle for what is 'left'. Start with an interesting idea, and insist on achieving it. If you can't, save it for later, or scrap it.

"Left" in the sense that I tried to purge all cooks so hard that the intended solution vanished with them. It took a while to get the original idea to remain in place.

Fortunately I managed to save the idea here, and that's the result. :D

N screens work:

Although, wN should be able to do both screens.

Cooked. (As is usually the case with my compositions.) I didn't expect that to happen. So went another few hours trying to isolate the issue...

And an attempt at a fix. (?)

Hopefully the idea works now.

WN screens on g1 as before. WPa2 could have captured the promoted a-pawn and a Knight. WK escapes via a6.

SOLVED. Well done as always, BigDogg.

The point is in the last 3 half-moves. There are other tempting tries to retract and give black moves, but only this sequence works, else the queenside is unresolvable.

(Yay it works!)
