What if on move 5 black plays his G - rook along the 8th rank to give the king space?

That won't work, because 6. Qh7# is still mate, black has no time to use that space. But after 3. ... Bg7 (instead of 3. ... Nxf6) there is no mate in 6. White is still winning though.

If there is no Nxf6, Bxf5 is winning for white. Basically a mate in 5

@MegaAbomin8r: After 3. ... Bg7 4. Bxf5 Bxf6 5. Qxc6 white is of course winning but there is no quick mate unless black blunders.
