If the universe requires a creator then the creator should require a creator = religion is made-up

I've never seen any body eventuallly agreeing with the other in these kind of thread.

Wasn't Jesus not even written about until a lifetime later by one person. That's hardly proof he was the Son of God, and hardly proof the stories are even accurate.

There is no difference between praying and results and not praying and results, as was found out by the study of nearly two thousand people, millions of dollars spent on the study and the study was led by a preacher.

I've heard there are 250 mistakes in the Bible. I've never looked into it in detail though.

If there is an afterlife it's highly unlikely it will match what is preached on Sunday mornings.

The Universe is fundamentally unknowable, through religion or science. Renounce your painful bewilderment. Embrace rapturous bewilderment. It is more fun.

According to Russell Means, the Lakota word for God translates into something like “The Great Mystery”. I think that they were on to something here.

What part of prime mover and uncaused cause don't you understand?

We name something or other the "Absolute," and we feel ourselves at
once its superior.

I agree with every word of that picture but it doesn't support Atheism, actually it supports Judaism!  Christianity and Atheism are blue pill religions, and Christianity blasphemously claims that God is three and Jesus who never fulfilled the prophecies was a part of it.

Abraham is historically acknowledged as the first Jew and is perhaps the most moral man who ever lived.  His father was an idol maker and was in the business himself, then God communicated with Abraham, likely chosen both because of his amazing moral character and already being in the religion business have credibility on such matters, so if the true god speaks to him (which has been historically documented) people would of course listen.

Abraham was willing to sacrifice his own son, his own flesh and blood, the boy whom he loved more than anything else in the world whom he raised to pass his lineage and ways down to, to God.  Such an act is the ultimate act of love and loyalty to one's creator.  How many people do you know who would be willing to make such a big, irreplaceable sacrifice?   Of course God knowing Abraham's loyalty told him he no longer had to sacrifice his son.

The Church of Reason

The Church of Reason is just that, it is another religion.

The Church of Reason is hard and cold and dead. It knows nothing of life. It is billiard balls careening off one another at prescribed angles.

The mathematics of the Church of Reason is the bottom line calculus. The Church of Reason is extractive, exploitive and cruel. It rapes the earth. It rapes its peoples, turning them into automatons and slaves.

The Church of Reason pretends that it knows everything. I say prove it. Tell me which stocks are going to pop tomorrow.

The Church of Reason is powerful and destructive. It loves war.

The Church of Reason is Death.

The Church of Reason is insane.

Jesus died for our sins. Its a good thing that we are all sinners, otherwise Jesus would have died for nothing.

Reason is not a bad thing, God gave us the capability to reason!  Subordinate your reason to faith, and a divorce between faith and reason is an ugly one.

Lots of other people died in the first century too.

Yes, I agree, reason is not a bad thing. But the Church of Reason is a terrible thing! We must be reasonable about our reason and subordinate it.
