Hmmm...I had a picture of classic Hollywood stars above my preface, but I guess I'm having more problems with my computer than I originally thought.
Movie Reviews II
I saw that movie years ago, and there are many scenes which stuck with me. It was really interesting directing, as well:)
Yes, it won (I wasn't aware of this until a few minutes ago) Best Director and Best Screenplay from the British Independent Film Awards and Special Recognition (for excellence in filmmaking) from the National Board of Review.
I finally watched "Burn After Reading"(2008), yesterday. It was recommended to me in the previous thread. It's directed by the Coen brothers. I'm pretty sure that the CIA is so ingrained in Hollywood the past decade or so, that they should just open their own studio(if they haven't already). Anyway, it's about the CIA, the employees of a fitness spa, and the revolving doors of infidelity. It's also a comedy which made me laugh aloud many times. Frances McDormand and George Clooney were especially funny:)

It's a pretty unique film!
Who has seen the movie Amadeus (1984)? The first time I saw it was during my secondary education, part of our portfolio in expressive arts, what are your thoughts?
I also liked Burn After Reading. Malkovich's character reminded me of Clouseau's boss, poor devil.
There was another death over the weekend that derserves mention. Maximilian Schell was not a big star but he did okay. He played a fictional chessmaster in Return from the Ashes(1965). I remember seeing it on broadcast tv when I was a kid. The story was a suspenseful murder plot set after WWII. Despite the star & J. Lee Thompson directing; it was not very popular.
Maximillian Schell was really, really good in "Judgment at Nuremberg"(1961). And his documentary "Marlene"(1984), is one of the best documentaries that I have seen:)
Ditto re "Judgment at Nuremberg," which also included a great performance by Montgomery Clift.
And how about Maximillian's sister Maria as Grushenka in "The Brothers Karamazov" -- a film with an amazingly restrained, sensitive performance from William Shatner (as the loving, spiritual brother)? How about that, huh?!
Montgomery Clift was great in that, motherinlaw! I didn't see "The Brothers Karamazov". I'll have to see if I can find that online to watch. Captain Kirk also made a short appearance in Judgment at Nuremberg, remember?:)

Tons of fun, and well-acted. Loved the negative "review" of one of Mozart's operas, "The Magic Flute" I think it was: "Too many notes." :-)
@trysts, yes. Cap't K played the aide to Spencer Tracy.
@kiwi, I think it's strange that the star of Amadeus has been in only a handful of films. This, Animal House(1978) and some small part in a version of Frankenstein I saw years ago on tv.
Hi!
This is a continuation thread for y'all to chit chat with me and others about classic and recent movies. The other thread was taking too long to load for me. I want to thank all the contributors of the last thread, which made me always come back to Chess.com. I hope we'll have just as much fun in this one!
