I'm in central new york state; about 70 miles from Albany and 70 from Syracuse and we got a wild storm today which was confirmed as a tornado.  it was an EF-0, the type with the least damage.  there was some damage, no one hurt thank goodness. it's the first time I experienced this, the whole thing seemed to last just half a minute or so.  incredible rain and wind which I guess was 80 MPH.  there are trees down all over the place, one guy's tool shed is in his swimming pool.  it could have been much much worse.

That is crazy, we had some messed up weather here in cleveland too. My power went out twice in the past 24 hours + severe thunderstorms

I envy that guy's tool shed.

Sorry about the guys shed.......it's one of the few places that are estrogen free these day...tool sheds are a temple of peace and sanctitude.

HAHA Scoob...and I'd like to see some pics of that shed in the pool! Glad everyone was ok though...could have been a lot worse!

I agree with Scooby: RIP Tool Shed.

Lived in Kansas for a few years, so I'm know the feeling, freeze.  What's eiry is the calm just before the strike.  What's statistically the most dangerous are the very high winds that come right after the tornado has struck; many times they are higher winds than the actual strike.  More people get killed by them than any other time (at least in America, where we have tornado detection).  The rain damage can also be incredible.

Glad you made it through your baptismal!
