Is the Tactics Trainer acting funny?

Sort:

For about the last month or so the tactics trainer has been lagging and pausing between moves and tactics and occasionally even locking up. Anyone else having this problem? Maybe its overloaded with too many players on at once? Not all the time but enough to be annoying.

ok, two different computers, for the last couple of months its been glitchy.

duncanduncan,

I'm very sorry about the late response :(

Can you tell me what operating system, browser and browser version you are using when this happens?

I am using chrome windows 7 and  a  brand two different computers. One new quad core etc. Still doing it off and on weeks after my first post.

I am having a glitch with the trainer and windows 7, with internet explorer....it won't let me open a try vs computer session. I did the java download, verified it with java and it still won't open. I have no pop up blocker either. All of the other pop ups open fine every where else....

duncan, can you try a cache and cookie clear? Also, disable any addons or extensions that you might have installed and see if that helps.

Nameno1had, what version of IE?

nameno1had

I think it is IE 11

Kansha

nameno1had,

Can you try using google chrome or firefox and seeing if the problem persists there?

I am trying to keep excess stuff off of my new system, but I may go gack to firefox...I did some things adjusting my system, haven't tried since your suggestions...

thansk for the tips guys but it still about a quarter of the time pauses and lags. Too many people on it?

I am having the same issue. In general chess.com is lagging often, but this lagging seems to affect the tactics trainer the most.

My experience is that it hangs more than 1/4 of the time, closer to 1/2 the times I start using it... I am also using windows 7, and have tried both IE and Chrome with similar symptoms on both... I have tried from multiple computers as well, and at this point do not beleive its my computers, setup, or network connection...

Additional observations:

1) When lagging occurs, and I am asked to make the first move in a puzzle, the timer starts as soon as the puzzle starts, even though I cannot see the problem yet. In some cases, the timer reaches 30 seconds and I still haven't been presented a problem which greatly affects my score even when I pass.

2) Successful tries don't always get recorded toward my stats if it freezes after I play a move, and see a solved message, but stats never appear.

3) Unsuccessful tries always get recorded toward my stats, even if it freezes after I play the wrong move but before stats appear.

Hopefully someone can figure this out, because my stats the last couple of weeks have been severly affected by these symptoms... I've only been having the issue the last month or so, even though I see this threads started over a year ago.

Interesting... Looks like network traffic is dropping. I am using att uverse from columbus, oh and do not see similar drop when pinging other sites (i.e. www.yahoo.com or www.google.com).
