Why not have a 'Analysis and Source' for the Daily Chess Puzzles, the same way as we have for the Tactics Trainer ?

plesiosaur

then it would no longer be a puzzle

kco

no no, it will appear soon as you finish trying the puzzle first.

kco

'bump' does anyone like the idea or not ?

planeden

i like it.  also, as far as the "not being a puzzle" you can already click solution, click through the answer, and post "easy".  so, it wont really really hurt the puzzle, but it will keep me from seeing how many people thought it was easy while i am still trying to figure out why the answer is what it is :).

kco

also with the 'analysis and source' it can be interesting to read.

good point !i have often wondered how many people lie and say they solved out of shame ,instead of just telling the truth,we are human, all capable of making mistakes esecially at chess, unless your me,got ya!!!!

as a basic member you can do three a day, actually.  go to learn - tactics trainer up at the top.  it is basically puzzles, but you have to watch out calling them puzzles because a few people will get bent out of shape and correct you.  of course, it is rated and timed.  you gain points by getting them right, or partially right.  you can lose points by taking too long, so don't be surprised.  as you improve the puzz...errr...tactics get harder.

This would be a great idea if it stops people from asking questions that have already been answered in an ealier post. I happens all the time, and it's annoying!!! Someone asks a question, e.g. today "Why did Black block with the Queen?" Someone else helpfully answers it or posts an analysis. Then a few posts later, there's someone else: "Black should never have blocked with the Queen. Why would he do that?" Grrrr!

Isn't it just good manners to read the thread you are posting to?

kco

hmm, what can I say ? Laughing

TheGrobe

Oh man, maybe this would stop people from duplicating posts -- like when someone asks "Why would Black block with his Queen?" and then after that questions been dutifully addressed by someone kind enough to post the analysis, someone else posts "Blocking with the Queen was dumb.  Black should never have done that."

I wish people would read the thread they're responding to -- it's just rude not to.

Good one :D

You mean people actually read the Daily puzzle thread? I thought it was just a 'write only document' type of thing...

kco should have said "why not have a analysis and source for the daily chess puzzle", instead of just "analysis and source for the daily chess puzzle".Wink

kco

There ! better ? Smile

Laughing I was just using TheGrobe's joke about not reading the threadLaughing

nwav

I thought so... Laughing

TheGrobe - Thanks, you put it better than I could have done, and I agree with you.  They say that déjà vu is better second time round. Then they say it again. Cool
