Wouldn't it better to just write a script that creates the daily puzzle post in a locked state (like a database row-level lock), then waits a random number of seconds to unlock and post the puzzle in one shot?

Then people posting first to promote their own puzzles (or any other agendas) would be out of luck.

That is almost as annoying as the "First Page" posts that don't require anyone to have solved the puzzle before posting. Any reason they couldn't write the script to disable posting when any wrong move is made?
