The Daily Puzzle.

Hi,

Any chance the site could consider disabling comments on the Daily Puzzle thread ?

I guess I'm not the only who's getting tired of people posting clues / solutions / hints immeadiately beneath the puzzle.

As for the rush to be first to post etc, well it's just an irritation that detracts from the site.

I agree. Comments there are superfluous at best and annoying as a matter of course. The only time a comment on that page has value is if it can demonstrate a refuation.

I can't see much of interest in the first 50 comments being from halfwits telling you they are on the first page !

That would be the first 20 comments. Threads are always 20 comments per page, unless you edit html.

I think MSC should be the only one to post.

I support this change. The most annoying thing is when people manage to post hints before the puzzle. That has happened more times than I can recall.Those comments do usually get deleted, but not before damage has been done.

At the very least, separating the puzzle from the comments would be a tremendous improvement.

MSC is one of the worst offenders. I am totally sick of relevant materials getting spammed out by him, his friends, and his alts.

Why would you want to practice censorship over such a trivial thing? How hard is it to ignore the guy's early comments, go straight to the puzzle and figure it out on your own?

Are you really so small-minded that you will let this troll msc whatever win? Because if you censor him, he wins. That's his game.

Well, yes and no.  If that is what he wants is for people to dislike him.  Then you can't stop him.  But, that's a sad ending.  If he would be nice and at least not post before the puzzle, that would be great.  It would even be nicer if he wasn't so obsessed with being #1, then he could post a little farther down and not hurt anyone.  If he posts above and right below, you can't help but see what he says.  So, it's in his hands whether he wants haters or likers.

Let's not get too much off topic. It isn't about this one person. It is enough to say I agree with Gustav and batgirl.

Yeah, and then you have days like today where people were happily solving my puzzle which was above the glitched one and then what? Mods delete it and don't repair the original one. Pathetic.

What if the comments page was like in the V3 TT? A link underneath the puzzle that opens a new tab with the comments page.

Charetter, I guess they don't bother to change the code because V3 will be out soon anyway.

I support some sort of change to the daily puzzle comments.  You want people to ask legit questions when another line looks appealing, but "first page," "easy," and whatever the heck MSC is up to is annoying.

How do other websites handle this kind of thing?  I don't really get out much on the ol' internet.

My rating has nothing to do with puzzle. Ok, maybe only that I find 95% of the DP easy.

Regarding my membership. It expires in a week, but I'm not gonna comment further on that.
