    Hiya there,

I think chess.com needs to have their Titled players to fulfil certain standards, cause i think there are ppl just doing some cheats to get their hands on w/e they have to send (maybe appearing to be some1 else), just to get a free membership. I know this sounds like crying, but cmon a CM/FM with a rating of 1300ish?

Think ppl who have this titles should have a certain requirement like 1700-1800 rating at least (to say something) on some of the chess.com ratings... or something like that.

    Errr thanks for reading this.

wow a 1300 playe with a title never seen one that low, but I do know what you are saying as I seen one that was 1500.

Perhaps the titled player is not even playing the account themself, and letting there 8 year old kid learn chess with it lol

or, the fellow who 'claims' to be a GM by his handle, and has a 1500 or so rating here - but 'claims' to be a grandmaster level player....

side note: apparently he hasn't submitted any proof to chess.com or they would have his title with his handle  == appearing automatically.

I think there are just people who choose to put these letters in their screen name, but are not in fact titled players.

You were in fact one of the players I was thinking about when I made my above post with the "IM" in your screen name. Guess I could have been "GIM1pawndown."

1400(blitz)??? CM losing to 1300's??? what the... If you become a candidate master do you have to have a specific rating or anyone can be a candidate master? since that guy kinda sucks no offense and he's what 14??? I'm only 12 and I have a higher rating than he does.

BTW he doesn't play correspondence chess. highest win against 1652 (blitz)?

Ok I got it figured you have to have a rating of 2200 ELO to be a CM

1.3 Those titles gained by achieving a published or interim rating at some time or other:

    1.31  FIDE Master ≥ 2300

    1.32 Candidate Master ≥ 2200

    1.33 Women FIDE Master ≥ 2100

    1.34 Women Candidate Master ≥ 2000

A CM retains the title regardless of current rating.

My online 2-min rating is currently about 700 points below my OTB blitz rating, and my 5-min about 400 points below. Online isn't the same as OTB. (1) The interface is different (I overlook a 1-mover about once a year in OTB blitz, here I do it almost daily -- that's enough for me to believe the interface matters for some of us). (2) I don't care if I win or lose here in live games, because it doesn't feed into a rating that has any value for me. I play while working, doing laundry, clipping my nails ... although I do tend to pay more attention during the new online tourneys.

Incidentally there is nothing in the requirements of the womens titles requiring you to be female! so If I wanted i could apply for the WCM title. The application probably wouldn't get accepted though...
