Tournament bug. Should be 1 group

    Hi.

    In this tournament

    http://www.chess.com/tournament/timeouters-redemption-iii

We are down to 7 players. The max group size is 7, so there should be just one group and a final round.

But for some reason there are two groups, one of 3 and one of 4. And this means an extra round. The whole idea of 63 players and 7->2 was that there would be 3 rounds, with some toleration for ties.

Any chance of combining these two groups?

It should exist an option of minimum group size.

There's no need for a minimum group size - the draw should always create the fewest possible groups without exceeding the maximum group size.

I wonder if the fact that all the groups in round 2 happened to be 6 players caused the wrong number (6 rather than 7) to be used in the draw for round 3.

A bug since the beginning. The Maximum size of a group in a new round is the size of the largest group in the previous round. Makes it difficult to forecast the number of rounds.
