EL2012 - General Tournament Setup and Rules These are the rules for the EL2012 tournament. The format is aligned with the EL2011 and the WL2011 formats and rules.Reservation: Minor changes and clarifications may occur. TEAMS AND DIVISIONS All European country teams are divided into four divisions according to the Tournament rules as of EL2011.TOURNAMENT FORMAT Tournament Schedule: Tournament start by 9th of January 2012, and the tournament should be finished and cutoff by 31st of December 2012. Division 1 to 3: - Ranking: According to results in EL2011 - Tournament format:Round-Robin 11 rounds - Schedule: R1+R2 – January / R8 - May R3+R4 – February / R9 - June R5+R6 – March / R10 - August R7 – April / R11 - September Division 4: - Ranking: According to ranking on TM Leaderboard at cutoff for EL2011 - Tournament format: 3 sub-divisions. Round-Robin 4 rounds per sub-division - Schedule: R1 – February / R4 - August R2 – April / R5 – September R3 - June TEAM MATCH SETTINGSThe teams are allowed to start the games earlier or later, but are not forced to startup earlier.Already finished or currently ongoing WL2012-games within the World League (that fulfill the team match settings) will be counted as EL-2012 games. - Time / move: 3 days- Concurrent games: 2 games- Rating: no limits- Min Players: Division 1: 30 playersDivision 2: 20 playersDivision 3: 10 playersDivision 4: 1 player - Opening Position: Standard- Games are Rated SCORING, PENALTIES, AND TIE-BREAKS - Scoring System: Win = 2 points, Tied = 1 points, Loss = 0 points. No game no points.- Penalties: -1 point, to teams that not have sent challenges, or not have accepted challenges, or not locked their rosters in matches before 30th of October 2012, or for teams in matches where the number of players not reaches the minimum ones, or for teams who have 5 or more players in their troups that have applied other flags and also are playing for other countries. Match results are adjusted due to cheating or players playing for several countries when finished or at cutoff.- Tie-breaks: Win = 100 points / Tied = 50 points. Bonus = Share of won games (in percentage)(Unfinished individual games in the team matches are always counted as tied till they are finished. Snapshot and cut off scores are always calculated on basis of this but multiplied with the share of completed games. Final scores will be counted at cut-off by the 31st of December 2012. No game = No points.) PROMOTION FOR EL2013 3 top teams per Division 2 to 4 moves up to the mediate superior Division.Note! Each winner of the sub-divisions of Division 4 is promoted to Division 3. 3 bottom teams per Division 1 to 3 moves down to the mediate lower Division. TOURNAMENT GENERAL RULES · One single country team per country is welcome register to European League. The best ranked ones are invited in first hand. · Country names and country flags must be applied to the team profiles. · The teams are allowed and encouraged to insert following text into their profile description: ”This team represent (Country) in the Chess.com European League.” · At least one (1) team admins per team are encouraged to join the dedicated European League Headquarter for European League 2012 in order to receive all relevant info. · All team members are allowed to participate in European League team matches, as long as they fulfill current game settings and following the rules. · Team members are allowed to join different groups and teams but they may represent and play with only one country team in the European League during a season. It is recommended to do it for the Country corresponding to the member profile flag. · Team members may NOT help each other out or use any computer assistance during their individual games. Cheating is forbidden. If there is any suspected cheating or unfair play from the other side, should the team leaders report this to the dedicated European League headquarters. Team leaders should not take matters into own hands. · If any player(s) were found participating repeatedly in more than one European League matches with different country teams or obviously is cheating, the teams the player(s) represent will lose the individual games the player(s) have played or playing, and the player(s) may even get banned from the European League competitions. · If there are more than five (5) players in a team within a team match that have applied another flag onto their profiles than the team have also are playing for other country teams in the European League competitions will that team be warned and get a penalty. When a team have received three warnings will the team be disqualified from this season and moved down to Division 4 for next season. No games against this team will be counted into the results for this season. · When creating a European League team match, should game settings and deadlines be applied according to guidelines that will be posted before any matches start. · Scores, tie-break, and penalties are given to the teams that participating in the tournament. Penalties are given for any teams that not send challenges or not accept challenges or not look their rosters or for teams in matches with too few participating players. · Team leaders are responsible to make sure that only players who are qualified according to the rules and guidelines have joined each match. · When the tourney started, current scoreboards and standings will be posted on the European League Headquarters forums. Team leaders are encouraged to transmit this information to their team members. · Team leaders should copy of the GENERAL RULES into the team forums, so that all participants are aware of the rules. · All participating country teams agree with these rules.
