Competition Format for the next year

Let's discuss this question. We have plenty of time for this in the midseason.

There are 3 ideas so far.

1. Original written in the rules. 12 top teams at the end of this season will form the Superleague, which will play a round robin. All other participants play in a Swss competition.

2. Stocker68: Divide all teams hierarchically into 4 groups of 10.

3. Dale00007: Keep 1 group playing Swiss as this year.

Option 1

3 - reason is to create different format than divisions like WCL so there is reason to compete in both League. Now there will be reason to choose only one of similar leagues decreasing teams in both. For Prague I will be doing such decision.

Option 3  /Dale00007 ... Reason:

We have two of the same competition, the WCL and World Cities Tournaments. If you divide the teams into hierarchical groups, in both competitions will mainly play the same teams, each year.
If you adopt a Swiss, We have the opportunity to play with other teams, with whom he otherwise would never have met.
We admins from Croatian favors game in hierarchical groups, but in this case is justified by Swiss play.
Team Zagreb is for option 3.

adriano81

Zagreb now possess 11th place, Prague - 20th

Option 1 is better for you cause all top teams which you are going to face in WCL will be in top Division, and you can easily play swiss in bottom one Laughing

Instead if we have one swiss division like this year at least 50% of the matches will be against the same opponents

So it seems the main reason for above Teams for option 3 is actually cause they can't be sure they will be in top 12 at the end of the year

Marignon

Let's not try to guess, who will be where, now it is all very questionable. For example, Team Moscow is very close to losing its 3rd match out of 7. :( As for now, about 50% of teams have good chances to qualify.

I agree that the idea "Keep 1 group playing Swiss as this year" is interesting.

And it is really a good point that only the teams that qualify to the Superleague should decide themselves by majority of vote if they need the Superleague or would play Swiss. Otherwise it will be like something was promised and then taken away - Why? :( .

So let's postpone any voting and let's make any reasonable suggestions to the tournament format and rules to have them implemented in the next season.

there is no option c

we have options 1, 2 and 3

adriano81

No matter which place Team Kyiv take we vote for Option 1

there is no sense to lose couple rounds until top Teams will be facing each other

Dale00007

Same for me. Although we won't get to Top League I would still vote 3 .. for Eeample this aloow my team to play strong opponent like Kyiv or Moscow, which wont be the case in other scenarios

Sorry for my mistake. São Paulo vote option 3.

Marignon

The questionary will be published in January and voting will start then.

Hastings votes option 3.

Swiss system tournaments are best if played in one, big section.

Team Bucharest is also voting for the option 3.

Sorry, I did not follow this discussion. I am personally very happy with all teams participationg this season.

I will soon (in 2-5 days) start making a list of suggestions for voting (after the New Year holiday)

Bobi wishes:

1. Ban fictionary or historical cities that have no actual dwellers.

2. Ban regional teams.

Please, make other suggestions of topics.

Not only about admission. Any other rule or point

Any admin (of teams participating this season, having some experience) can also present his candidature to run the competition next year.

Dale00007

If we are voting we can vote about penalty for:

a) multiteam players

b) closed accounts

My proposal is to penalize both issues equaly by don't counting any points score by such players.

adriano81

Moreover all points scored by multiplayer or cheater should go to opponent

Dale00007

My proposal is not strickt.. Just don't count the points. Giving points to opponent affects match results too much and in majoryí of cases team.admins cant influemce such behavior. In addition on closed accounts it is not possible to identify if it was Cheater or voluntarily closed account.

It is entirely possible to determine whether cheater or voluntarily closed account. Just look in the closed account game archive, if a cheater, the icon will be present. And yes, there still exists a way of seeing closed account archives, simply by manipulating the url.

For example:

http://www.chess.com/home/game_archive?member=emanuel_1

Dale00007

It is not true. I was verifying this with Chess.com and in general this works but there are many cases when this icon can be added or removed and that it cant be used for proper identificiatin of closed account because of cheating.
