    I've tried this opening, and it really keeps bishops away from dangerous places. It just takes longer to develop, and you cna still build up a pawn center if you are white. Try developing as black after 1.a3 e5 2.h3 d5 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Nf3 Nc6 5.e3 Bc5 6.d4 Bd6 7.Bd3 Be6 8.e4 O-O 9.Be3

    It's called the creepy-crawly opening because when black takes complete control of the center white quietly crawls up the side of the board. Do not recomend this opening.

    Because white is creeping/crawling up the sides of the board, instead of dominating the centre like black.

    An example of a good game by Basman, playing the Creepy Crawly:

    I like your line. Although white has a pawn island on e4, black has doubled pawns that should fall easily.

    Ya. It would be worth it playing it at an OTB tournament just to see the expression on your opponent's face. It gets them thinking immediately.

    I haven't tried this opening out yet. I will soon, though.

    This opening don't seems good, because it abandon the center, certanlly wainting to fix it after.

    As I suspected, thanks.

    Also, using openings such as this gives you a physcological advantage over your oppenent (if I spelt it right).

    @vowls23

    I think so, as long as black pushes both center pawns.

    This opening is a favorite with my brother, Wilde_Jagd. The goal is to let black build up a strong center and then smash it later on in the game. I don't think he's ever lost a game doing this opening.

    Lovely, fun opening to employ - trying it out now.

    Just one question - is 1.h3 followed by 2.a3 also the Creepy Crawly?
