I thought it was bad, then realised how good it was!

I play pretty well against this as black. I wouldnt play it myself. Anyone wants to challenge with this opening can challenege me. 

My favourite opening. Gets your bishop on the board and in turn, your queen.

this is my fav opening for white.

i haven't played in a while, so correct me if i am wrong.  Isn't that move part of the larger opening "birds"  or "full birds" if you do it on both sides?

Yes, Larsen lost to Spassky in one game and drew the other. Larsen's overall record with 1.b3 is 35 wins in 47 tries with 6 draws. That's 74% wins.

Fischer played it 5 times with 4 wins and 1 draw.

Bagirov scored 50 wins - 36 draws - 8 losses.

Kasperov got 3 wins but lost once (against a computer).

Several books have been devoted to the opening. It is the most hypermodern of the hypermoderns, and a lot of fun to play.
