The sicilian defense is the reason why I start with either 1. d4 or Nf3

Two Points:

A. Why not accept the Smith-Morra gambit (2.d4).  That's the only response I've seen in any of my games.

B. Why does the diagram show black castling queenside?  The pawns around the king are weak!

@Morris____
 if 2. e5 then 2... Nc6.

Possible continuation: 3. Nc3 Nxe5

or 3. Nf3 Qc7 4. Be2... etc.

If after 2... Nc6 3. f4 then 3... g5 4. fxg5 Bg7 5. Nf3 and position is near equal (.18 advantage to black [Rybka]). Don't worry about pawns in the beginning too much, you will have time to mop them up later.

Also, I have found a ton of versatility in the sicilian, I have not run into any traps yet, although I'm sure they exist, they certainly aren't as well known as some others.

@ ajian (on ur diagram)..what would be white's next move if black opted on 11...Ne5 instead of 0-0-0(castling)? is there some kind of a trap?
