This is a "No Vacation" tournament!

A hopefully fast-paced, no vacation, no tie-break three-round tourney, with spiffy trophies to boot.  1550 rating & average time-per-move are determined at registration; subsequent increases will not disqualify.  Best wishes to all who take up the challenge.

Congrats to the winners, Thais all for participating.

A Refinement

TheBlueBishop | Sep 26, 2011, 6:30 PM

I should add that, with the no tie-break feature, more than 50% of the players can advance if they have the same score, they then being more or less one player for the purpose of the 50% advancement rule.

Number of Players Advancing to Round 4.

TheBlueBishop | Sep 26, 2011, 6:00 PM

There has been a question posed, based on an unfortunate set of circumstances, about why only 1 player from each group advanced to Round 4 even though the tournament was billed by me as allowing 2 players to advance at each round.

I did not foresee this possibility, and therefore my description of the tournament was misleading which I regret.  The reason that only 1 player advanced from the two groups in round 3, I have since learnded, is because of a built in limitation with the program that runs tournaments that no more than 50% of the players in a group may advance.  The two groups in round three were composed of three players each, so only one player from each advanced to round 4.

Again, I am sorry that I did not understand that this was a possibility, and regret that some players may have relied on this misunderstanding to their detriment.

Congrats on Advancing
