IM Daniel Rensch brings us the climax of the Caro-Slav Formation in his Pawn Structure 101 video series this weekend. His summary focuses on a couple new ideas he hasn't displayed yet, as well as a "tying together" of all the ideas already discussed. Watch the video slowly, reference his previously recorded lectures (videos) on the topic, and become the "Caro-Slav Warrior" you were always meant to be... | Watch video

In this "Member Analysis" game review video, Dzindzi holds nothing back! His brutally honest criticisms of each players' moves, as well as their post-game notes, is as entertaining as it is enlightening. See what a "rook sentenced to lifelong imprisonment" looks like, and stay on the edge of your seat for the "worst positional move of 2010" -- according to Roman anyway. Watch and learn! | Watch video

Grandmaster Dejan Bojkov continues his video series describing how to effectively use the different types of "piece couples" in chess. Today he moves on from the rooks and bishops to discuss the most powerful "attacking duo" in chess. As GM Bojkov displays for us here, the "Batman and Robin" team of Queen and Knight are capable of creating mating nets in multiple fashions, while also targeting weaknesses all over the board. Enjoy! | Watch video

IM Mark Ginsburg continues his series on the effectiveness, and sometimes lack thereof, of computer analysis engines. As usual, Mark has done his homework to provide us with some well prepared material. Today's topic is seen through the "looking glass" of Theoretical Opening Preparation -- in particular, the Blumenfeld Gambit. This topical line has been frequented several times of late at the high levels of chess, but has white been consistently employing the best options? Watch and find out... | Watch video

Grandmaster Dejan Bojkov brings us an interesting and somewhat different look at the values of each respective chessman. Taken from the perspective of finding each piece's value, based on its activity and surroundings. For players looking to better their understanding of using the initiative at a basic level, this video is a golden introduction. Learn to calculate your plans based on the features of the entire position -- not the supposed "points" of the pieces... | Watch video

In part one of this "game in review" video, IM Sam Shankland analyzes, in great detail, his critical second to last round game against Grandmaster Jaan Ehlvest from the Chicago Open a couple month's ago. As the game developed, Sam was feeling confident about his maneuverings and accumulation of the slight "bishop pair" advantage; however, when Sam miscalculates at the critical moment, it seems that the former World #3 is about to "bring down the axe"... | Watch video

Today Melik Khachiyan reviews his win against Grandmaster Alex Lenderman from the 2010 U.S. Championship. Although the game itself is very instructive and climaxes in a very well-played rook endgame by Melik, the main topic of this video lecture (and the sequel coming soon) is how to play against the Maroczy Bind from the black side of the Accelerated Dragon. Melik has his own "original recipe" when it comes to this, and he sure does make it look good! | Watch video

In today's video lecture, Roman reviews two games from his personal library. Both matches were played against the same opponent, with the first coming in 1977. The theme is a practical one, displaying examples of when the initiative and the ability to remain active was more important than the gaining of material. The story climaxes with a move that even Roman considers to be one of his best, and yet most simple, moves he ever played... | Watch video

Grandmaster Dzindzichashvili reveals a variation in which we can play for a positionally sound, structured, and yet aggressive plan with the white pieces against the French Defense. As Roman instructs, the ideas that white is able to execute with a lead in development and space advantage on the kingside, seem to make up for the sacrificed d-pawn in many variations. Not to mention that a "less known" variation such as this one is always played with practical value... Enjoy! | Watch video
