Back over the board!
Last week was our first over the board chess since March last year, and it was great to see some old faces enjoying some social chess, as well as the Club welcoming Jacob Sparks (who had previously joined us as an online member) for his first night.
Assuming no sudden COVID restrictions, we will hold the Mark Harrington memorial Rapid tournament over the next two weeks, followed by the much delayed Annual General Meeting.
Online activities:
In the meantime, I have tentatively moved our Wednesday evening online friendly tournaments to Thursdays – unfortunately we were hit with another Chess.com server reset at 8pm, disrupting the tournament last week, and there wasn’t enough interest in the replacement tournament.
To avoid server reset issues, I am setting the starting time to 8:05pm this week: https://www.chess.com/live#r=897930
Arena format, time limit: 10 minutes + 2 second increment.
Please provide feedback if you would prefer the online tournaments to be held on a different night, or at different time limits.
