Chess 111: Opening Principles

I'm Kairav Joshi, one of Chess.com University's instructors and am excited to say Chess.com University announces its first chess seminar of 2012: Chess 111 – Opening Principles and Basic Openings as Black and White
When: The Seminar Will Take Place on Friday June 1st, 2012 at 1:00 PM Pacific Time (GMT-7)
Instructor: Kairav Joshi
Level: Chess 111 is aimed at players with a strength of 800 – 1200 elo.
Course Description:
Chess 111 is designed to help beginners understand opening principles and learn fundamentals of opening play from both White’s and Black’s perspectives. The students will learn basic openings with 1.e4 and 1.d4 along with opening principles to guide them through the opening phase each game. The seminar will contain lecture elements, time to ask questions, and a problem-solving session to allow students to demonstrate their new skills and knowledge!
Prereq: Students are strongly encouraged (but not required) to watch Everything You Need to Know 2: The Opening! by IM Daniel Rensch sometime before the seminar.
Format: The total seminar duration will be 2 hours and 15 minutes and will be formatted as follows:
1 hour session
15 minute break
1 hour session
Tuition: $25/person
Registration:
Minimum # of students for the tentatively scheduled seminar to become official: 20 by May 27th, 2012. (Maximum # of students for this seminar is 30).
