EUROPEAN CITIES LEAGUE (ECL) 2026 ROUND 5 vs ATHENS

Greek opponents in round 5. Last season, they gave us a bit of a thumping in a 14-board match; we only mustered 7 and a half points, although we did finish a place above them in the final table.   

Athens currently lies in 9th place this year, again one place below us. They have lost to Brno and are engaged in tight matches against Bratislava and London. We have now gone down in the matches against Lviv and Prague, clubs that are in 2nd and 3rd spots at the time of writing. It's starting to look like a tight fight in the lower half of the Division, so we will need to start earning points against the other teams in the 'wrong half'.
