The Camel City Open in Winston-Salem
" Hi all
The Winston-Salem Chess Club has come a long way, with new events that the club and the local community has never seen before. We are reaching out to local elementary, middle and high schools to coach and grow scholastic chess. Steps have been made for progress in other areas, but we settled on a location, and decided to throw our own three round tournament every other month. Of course, we don't want to clash with Greensboro's or Asheboro's, so we will occupy Saturdays with the least tournaments scheduled. The first Camel City Open tournament is scheduled for February 18, 2017.
I'd challenge everyone to come out for the first event, drop some feedback, and enjoy the company and camaraderie you've all had throughout the years. As you know, this is a process, and we want to connect with you all and learn how to make our tournament shine like the rest. We would like to provide snacks, fruit and drinks for our players, if this course of action is within our budget! This is our first try at attracting competition outside of the triad; with the help of the WSCC Board, I've been planning downtown meetings, a quad tournament for USCF 1800-2199 players, and (hopefully) a club vs club match with Greensboro.

Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
Tony Sanders "
