Upcoming Chess Tournament: Langley Open 2019

Attention Tournament Players! The Langley Open Chess Tournament - typically the final major classical tournament of the year in BC - is fast approaching. This is a truly open format tournament, with just one section for players of all ratings, so it's a great chance to climb the rating ladder and even potentially take on some titled players. When: August 31 - September 2, 2019 (Labour Day weekend)

Where: Brookswood Senior Centre 19899 36 Ave. in Langley, BC

Format: Six-round Swiss tournament in one rating section; 90 minute + 30 second time control

Entry Fee: $60 until Aug 17; $70 after Aug 17 up to registration; Free Entry for Players Rated 2300 (CFC) or above; Family Rate: $30 per player for 2nd and above family member

Prizes: Prize Fund of $2000 based on a minimum of 40 players, with generous prizes for Best Under 2000 rated player, Best Under 1700 rated player and biggest upset

Note: Please bring your own chess set, board, and clock in order to avoid possible shortages.
