Upcoming Chess Tournament: New West Fall Open 2019
The exciting chess events keep on coming with the New West Fall Open, to be held this Thanksgiving Day long weekend at Douglas College. Ever wanted to test your mettle against a GM? This event will see a special appearance by GM Andrey Gorovets (Fide 2517), so this could be your chance. This will likely be the final open classical chess tournament in the lower mainland for 2019. When: Oct 12th - 14th (first round: 10am, Oct 12th)
Where: Douglas College, New Westminster (Subject to change, room number TBA)
Format: six round Swiss in four rating sections (U1000, U1400, U1800, Premier); G/90 min + 30 second increment
Entry Fee: Early Bird $85 (by Sep 15th); Regular $100
Free for FIDE / CFC / USCF 2200+ or National Masters (by Sep 28)
Prizes: $4000 (based on 100 paid entries), with $1000 / $600 for top 2 in Premier section
Unrated players (except in Premier section) are not qualified for section prizes, but for over-all best unrated prizes
