Upcoming Chess Tournament: New West Summer Open 2019

The dog days of summer are upon us but tournament players need not be idle! The West Chess Club will be hosting a new CFC rated tournament this BC Day long weekend and everyone is encouraged to play. You can expect a well-organized event with competitive sections. Beginner players (CFC under 800) can play in a "Reserve" section with a shorter time control. When: August 3-5, 2019

Where: Douglas College, New Westminster, BC (room number TBA)

Format: 6 round Swiss in five sections (Premier, U2000, U1600, U1200, and U800 reserves); 90 min + 30 seconds time control for all sections except Reserves (50 min + 10 seconds)

Entry fee Early Worm, $60 (by Jun 16th), Early Bird, $70 (by July 21st), Regular, $90

Prizes: $3000 prize fund, based on 80 paid entries (trophies only for Reserve section)

A valid CFC membership is required to play.
